Day 21: Rapids City to Kadoka: 102 miles

Today we headed out of Rapid City into the Badlands of South Dakota.

Outside of Rapid City

For some reason horses are always standing like this.

Crossing the Custer River

Before the Badlands

We now know when we see a sign like this to be very afraid. 14 miles of milled surface!?! Luckily they had actually paved most of this but not changed the sign yet:)

Andy getting creative with his lunch stop. Evidently the pretzel m&m's are delicious!

Kristen proving that sometimes any seat is a welcome change from your bicycle seat.

Welcome to the Badlands!

That's Tim and Sam riding up the pass in the Badlands.

Caution!!! Prairie dogs have PLAGUE!!!!!

This is what a prairie dog with PLAGUE looks like!

Out of the Badlands. At this point we were riding as fast as we could (which wasn't very fast with the headwinds) to try and catch the World Cup championship game.

Welcome to Kadoka! We did make it to see the last 2 minutes of regulation and then overtime.

A very random display of things...I guess this is what you do for fun when you live in Kadoka.
