The start of the morning rush. This is not a main station, nor is it the peak time of day. I was so spoiled where I lived with my 3 minute bike ride commute to work.
Elementary school kids out for PE. They're divided up by the color of their hats, and then also further divided up by the color of gloves they are wearing (which may be hard to see).
I think every city in Japan has a river that looks like this in it. I called the one in Yamagata the drainage ditch. I read that Japan has protected itself against the 10,000 year flood, which I always found interesting since flooding doesn't seem to be their biggest danger.
Rather than put you trash outside of your own house, you have to walk it to certain collection places, sometimes a couple blocks from your house. Could you imagine if Americans were told they had to do this? I don't think it would go over well.
