This morning I went running before the school festivities start today (placement tests, orientation, etc.). Of course in Japan, that means getting up early, because here people just don't run down the street in the middle of the day (as I learned from experience). So I headed out along the bay, and one thing led to another, and then I decided to head towards Mt. Hakodate. And, since I'm a sucker for a challenge, especially a self imposed challenge, I decided to run up the mountain. I had to walk in places, but decided that a good goal for the summer would be to make it the whole way to the top running. We'll see how it goes!
Foggy in town, clear up top!

Most people take the ropeway to the top...I know, crazy talk! The ropeway station looks just like the Jetson's house...I wonder which came first...
You can kind of see the view of town with the mountains in the background.
In America, red wing blackbirds and geese are my winged enemies...in Japan it is the crow.
The other benefit of going up at 7 in the morning is that no one is around!!
